A MAN involved in a collision with a reversing lorry on a construction site remains in a serious condition in hospital.

The 74-year-old was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following the incident on Newcraighall Road at 2pm yesterday.

He had been walking home and was at the AMCO construction site when he was involved in a collision with a lorry, which was reversing.

He sustained serious injuries to his legs and torso.

Police partially closed the road for around four hours while they carried out an investigation.

They are now appealing for witnesses.

Sergeant Brian Smith said: “The elderly male has sustained some serious injuries as a result of this collision and we are now keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time.

“Motorists, pedestrians and other members of the public who witnessed the incident, or who have information relevant to this investigation are asked to contact police immediately.”
