A MAN has suffered head injuries after falling underneath scaffolding into the basement of Lothian Chambers on George IV Bridge.

Fire crews pulled the man to safety using a stretcher and a line rescue team following the accident in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man was taking to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with head injuries.

Crews from Tollcross and Newcraighall attended the incident.

Meanwhile, a couple were treated for smoke inhalation following a fire at a house in Murrayburn Gardens on Sunday morning.

The man and woman were given oxygen at the scene after a blaze broke out in their house at around 2.10am this morning.

Firefighers from Sighthill used breathing apparatus and a line of house to extinguish the fire which started in a drying area,
