THOUSANDS of people have signed a city man’s petition demanding that no public money be spent on the funeral of Margaret Thatcher.
Michael Usher is calling for the entire cost of the event to be recovered from the former prime minister’s estate.
At last count, 14,000 people had signed his petition on website change.org.
Mr Usher said: “It’s not about disrespecting the dead, it’s about not wasting public money on something that is an insult to the British public. We don’t want a penny of our money spent on honouring her.”
