MIKAEEL lives in a duplex flat in Ferry Gait Crescent with his mother, Rosdeep Adekoya, and four siblings.
He was born along with twin sister Ashika in Kirkcaldy on May 7, 2010.
Mrs Adekoya, 33, originally from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, worked as a customer services assistant for a gas company, but now runs her own mobile health and beauty studio.
She married taxi driver Omotoso Adekunle Adekoya, originally from Nigeria, in Glenrothes in 2004.
Her mother, Harjinder Kular, from Kirkcaldy, is listed as a witness on the marriage certificate. Her father, Gurbux, died in 1997, aged 43.
Mrs Adekoya’s first son, Tarun, was born in October 2004, followed by another son, David, in December 2006 and a daughter, Renuka, in August 2008. The couple’s relationship, however, seems to have run into trouble and the pair split up, though they are still married.
The family had initially lived in Edinburgh before moving to Kirkcaldy.
Mrs Adekoya and her husband moved back to the Capital in 2012 – but to different addresses.
Frank Arthur, who lives directly above Mikaeel’s family, described him as a “cheeky little lad”.
Mr Arthur, 72 said: “I’ve seen the little lad out playing in the stair with his siblings. He’s a happy, cheeky little lad. “
Nicola Garrick, 35, who lives opposite the family said that she often seen him out playing and he was always smiling.
She said he was a happy boy, “he’s always had a smile on”.
