A “MALICIOUS campaign of harassment” by a jealous ex-boyfriend led to murder, a jury has been told.

They are expected to decide today whether tattooed builder Frank Moore, 43, left his former lover and the new man in her life to die – locked in a burning flat.

A trial at the High Court in Edinburgh has heard how firefighters broke into Lynsey Methven’s home in the Grange area of Edinburgh to find a dying man in the blood-spattered kitchen.

Chef Stewart Taylor, 33, from Aberdeen, had suffered head injuries that could have killed him without the complication of breathing in smoke and toxic fumes from the burning furniture, said doctors.

Bookies’ assistant Ms Methven, 30, woke in hospital to find she was blind in one eye, could no longer hear in one ear and her sense of balance was destroyed to the extent that she can no longer walk unaided.

Moore denies murder and attempted murder, claiming he was in his home at Bothwell Street, Edinburgh on the morning of February 7.
