A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD from Musselburgh is preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime experience after winning the chance to walk out at Hampden Park with the Scotland team.

Joseph Armstrong will accompany the likes of Scott Brown, Steven Naismith and Robert Snodgrass to the pitch before their World Cup Qualifier with Croatia next Tuesday night.

He said: “I can’t wait to walk out on to the pitch and see the stadium.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the players.”

Joseph won his place as a player escort after entering a national competition run by McDonalds, which has been working with the Scottish FA for more than a decade.

Kenny Dalglish, who is McDonald’s head of Scottish football, said: “The McDonald’s community programme is about providing opportunities for people to get involved in grassroots football and to give youngsters footballing experiences that they will never forget.

“I hope all the player escorts enjoy every second of walking out on to the pitch at Hampden Park and have a great night cheering on the team.”
