WITH a big lottery win like this, it would be possible to afford a luxury villa in the South of France or Los Angeles.
But a couple who scooped a £4 million jackpot have bought a new place slightly closer to home - less than half a mile from where they already live.
When they won in January, David and Donna Hendry said they were thinking of extending their two bedroom home in Mid Calder, West Lothian.
However, they have now snapped up a larger, five-bedroom property about a minute from their current address.
The £300,000 detached house has more room for the couple and their 12-year-old son and also boasts a double garage.
A friend said: “David and Donna want to enjoy their win. What’s the point of striking it lucky on the Lotto if you are not going to spend?”
The couple are yet to move in and are carrying out renovations, including the fitting of a new kitchen.
They have both quit their jobs, with David, 45, leaving his sales engineer post weeks after the win.
