The firm analysed more than 700,000 tips from its 57,000 members worldwide to come up with a definitive list of places to visit based on local recommendations.

Ondine tops the list for Edinburgh alongside acclaimed restaurants around the world, including Noma in Copenhagen and Momofuku in New York.

“This is a fantastic honour for us”, said Ondine chef proprietor Roy Brett.

“What makes it extra special is the fact that it is based on recommendations by the people of Edinburgh who want to ensure visitors here have the best possible experience. That is a big responsibility but we go out of our way to ensure visitors and locals leave Ondine in no doubt that Scottish food and hospitality is some of the best in the world”, said Roy.

Since opening five years ago, Ondine has attracted widespread recognition, including being named AA Scottish Restaurant of the Year and one of the UK’s Top 100 Restaurants.
