She was a pillar at Radio Forth for 19 years. Bit of this, bit of that. Managed the station’s charity, latterly Cash for Kids. Interviewer. Until she was made redundant three years ago.
But Lesley Fraser hasn’t been hanging about. These past two years she reckons she has written the service for 400 funerals. All denominations, as they say. Delivers them. Meets the families. Takes the service. Plays host.
And she’s loving the job. It’s a full life. Lesley, who loves in Colinton, is 56. A grown-up family of a two sons and a daughter plus a granddaughter. Her husband is a financial adviser.
And now the book. Cavalier Chronicles (son Doug, 34, designed the jacket) was launched last night at the National Library of Scotland. It’s her first. Deeply involved is Rufus, one of her three Cavalier King Charles spaniels. “We love dogs, I’ve got the author bug and already I’m mad keen on doing a follow-up novel next year.’’
Don’t know how she does it and this is where I feel obliged to add that Lesley Fraser has organised a book signing, at Pets at Home, Straiton Retail Park, on April 26.
She will have the three dogs with her and is on 07836 703863.
A full life but she appears to be barking up the right tree.
