Talk of the Town: Plenty to chew on after banner theft

Have your say

IT’S been an eventful time for the Royal Mile – and the area now faces another blow after the Signet Library had an advertising banner stolen.

Bosses at the Parliament Square venue are, however, hopeful of its return after offering a lobster lunch for two plus a bottle of champagne at the pop-up Pommery Bar in August as a reward.

It’s the perfect base for hungry Wolves

PIZZA sounds like the perfect way to top off four hours of high-octane, hard-tackling American football action.

So Papa John’s is the ideal sponsor for the Meadowbank Stadium-based Edinburgh Wolves team. And to mark the new tie-up, some of the players dropped by the South Clerk Street branch to swap their helmets and shoulder pads for dough and pepperoni.

Coach Don Edmonston said: “The team were thrilled when we told them about the partnership.”

Walk ‘n’ roll festival

THE Edinburgh Guitar and Music Festival taking place this weekend at the Corn Exchange isn’t all about rock ‘n’ roll.

A sponsored Minstrel Walk each morning in aid of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland will see fundraisers walk to sounds of The Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).

Dry land, wet mouths

SAILORS aren’t exactly known for taking it easy when they hit dry land, and it seems the crew of HMS Edinburgh are no different.

TOTT hears they were enjoying themselves in the Cowgate after their Royal Mile parade on Friday.

One onlooker said: “Looks like it could get messy.”
