The body of missing woman Irene McArthur has been found in Fife, members of her family have announced on social media.

In a public Facebook post Ms McArthur's niece thanked 'every single person' who searched for her aunt and shared news of the appeal to find her on Facebook.

Ms McArthur went missing from the Little France area of Edinburgh shortly after midnight on February 12.

A police appeal was launched on Thursday as family members became 'increasingly concerned' for the 59-year-old's welfare.

Tributes have poured in on social media as friends and Edinburgh locals pay their respects to an 'amazing woman'.
