A WOMAN has been arrested in connection with an alleged pepper spray attack at an Edinburgh nightclub.
The incident happened at around 2.30am on Sunday at Chalky’s on Picardy Place. Witnesses reported that the smoking area at the entrance to the club had to be evacuated briefly as a safety precaution.
One person was treated at the scene by ambulance crews and one witness described the scene as “pandemonium.”
He said: “It was mad – I was gasping for breath and my eyes were watering.”
Staff said they had quickly cleared people from the smoking area as a precaution after the incident and added the nightclub itself had not been evacuated.
Police said a 25-year-old woman had been taken into police custody.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an incident in Picardy Place in the early hours of this morning in which a noxious substance was discharged.”
