Roofer turned poet William Letford enjoyed a verse in the sun as he prepared for the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The Stirling writer, who won a New Writers Award from the Scottish Book Trust and an Edwin Morgan Travel Bursary which allowed him to spend three months in the mountains of northern Italy, will talk about his poetry collection Bevel at Charlotte Square on Friday August 24.

Prior to signing his book deal, William hid his works amongst the beams and joists of roofs in his hometown.

He said: “I love the idea of it not being seen for so long, then discovered along with the measurements and the pencil marks.”
