POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for information after jewellery to the value of £27,000 was stolen from a shop in Edinburgh last week.

Lime Blue in George Street was targeted around 1.10pm last Thursday by a man who asked to see rings in a display cabinet.

The man then grabbed the rings as the sales assistant removed them from the display cabinet and ran from the shop.

He went into a green Vauxhall Omega, which drove off down Castle Street and towards Queen Street.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 6ins tall with short dark spiky hair and wearing a dark blue jacket, jeans and white trainers.

A police spokesman said: “We now know the make and model of the getaway vehicle and we are keen to hear from anyone who can help us identify the driver.

“The store has provided us with images of the stolen rings and any businesses or individuals who are offered items matching their description should contact police immediately

“Similarly, anyone with any other information relating to this theft is also asked to come forward.”
