A HORSE was attacked by a metal spike in a “sickening” incident in Midlothian.
Police are appealing for witnesses and believe the incident happened some time between 9.45pm on Thursday and 9.30am on Friday at Gowkshill Farm.
The horse suffered an injury to its shoulder after being attacked with a metal spike.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “This was a sickening and mindless act of violence on a defenceless animal, resulting in the horse needing veterinary treatment.
“Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in or around Gowkshill Farm on Thursday evening or Friday morning is asked to contact police immediately.”
