Police hunt pupils who set fire to woman’s hair on bus

Two schoolboys are being sought after a woman had her hair set on fire aboard an Edinburgh bus.

The incident ocurred on board a number 2 bus between Lauriston Place and Nicolson Street just after 4.30pm yesterday. It is understood that the two boys wearing school uniform were sitting behind the woman on the single decker bus when they began lighting her hair.

The woman, who is believed to be in her 20s, informed the driver of their antics, causing them to flee, and police were called.

An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said: “I boarded the bus at Lauriston Place and immediately noticed a strong smell of burning.

“When we got to Nicolson Street the woman ran forward and told the driver to call the police as they had been setting her hair on fire.

The two youths are thought to be aged between 13 and 15 years old.
