Police are investigating after a speed camera was set on fire on the A68.

The incident happened sometime overnight between Friday and Saturday near to Pathhead.

A passing motorist noticed the unit alight at around 2.30am and contacted police.

Officers are now urging any witnesses to come forward.

Inspector Alan Hogarth said: “Not only is this a needless act of vandalism, it has also damaged a vital speed camera, which helps keep our roads safer.

“Anyone who can help us identify those responsible or who has information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact police immediately.”
