Police are investigating after a man was found dying in a public toilet near the Royal Mile.
The 47 year-old man was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after being discovered by a tourist, but later died on Wednesday.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following the death of a man who was found in a public toilet at Hunter Square around 3.30pm on Wednesday 6th August. The male took unwell while within a cubicle and was transferred to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he later passed away.
“Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
