POLICE officers were left stunned when they saw a car drive by with a teenager draped across the bonnet.
They watched as driver Billy Pearson coasted to a halt, allowing his friend Dominic Burt to jump off and run into his home.
Pearson, from Whitburn, drove off, but police followed and stopped the 18-year-old.
He was originally charged with dangerous driving, but instead pleaded guilty to driving culpably and recklessly at Livingston Sheriff Court.
Anna Murphy, defending, claimed Pearson was travelling at 10-15 miles an hour when he saw Mr Burt in the street.
She went on: “He’s not particularly close to Mr Burt but when approaching, Mr Burt waved at my client, evidently acknowledging him.
He decided to play around and – as a joke – jumped on the bonnet of my client’s car.”
Admonishing Pearson today, Sheriff Martin Edington told him: “This was a bizarre situation but it wasn’t one of your making.”
