ACTOR Alan Cumming is to be quizzed by city election officials after he bought a Polwarth flat so he could vote in next year’s independence referendum.

The Holywood star paid £82,000 for the small one-bedroom residence so he could say Yes in the poll.

But voting bosses have said the home must be his “main place of residence” if he is to qualify for the electoral roll.

Brian Brown, the Capital’s deputy electoral officer, said: “We’ll communicate with Mr Cumming to establish his current residency. If that is out of sync with what is required to be on the register we’ll take appropriate action.”

A spokesman for Cumming, 48, said the flat was his “main and only” home in Scotland.
