EDINBURGH voters are set to overwhelmingly support the UK’s membership of the EU at next week’s referendum, according to a leading bookmaker.
Ladbrokes said the Capital was the hot favourite to produce the biggest backing for Europe out of all the counting areas.
Punters can get 2/1 on Edinburgh, with second-favourites Cambridge and Oxford tied on odds of 4/1.
Bookies expect the UK to remain in the EU, offering odds of just 2/5 against 9/4 of a leave vote.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We expect Edinburgh to emerge as one of the most pro-EU areas of the country when the count is in.
“If that title heads to London, the betting suggests voters in Islington and Hackney are slightly more passionate about Brussels than those south of the river.”
