Labour has denied reports it will offer the Lib Dems a deal on voting reform if they agree to support a minority Labour government.
Shadow Business Secretary Chuk Umuna insisted the party was “absolutely not” contemplating such a move. A TV news report claimed unnamed senior trade union figures wanted Labour to offer a fresh look at the first-past-the-post system in a bid to secure an anti-Tory pact.
One union leasder was quoted saying: “The trade unions wouldn’t like another government the same as the last five years. The Lib Dems have some very positive trade union policies, in some cases more positive than Labour.”
