Campaigners for building a new High School on parkland are the biggest winners in the first ever community council elections in Portobello.

Several prominent campaigners have won seats, including Sean Watters and Bob Jefferson, while former community council members who opposed building on Portobello Park lost their seats.

Many of the winning candidates highlighted a need for greater consultation by the community council in order to ensure it better represented local residents views on a wide range of issues.

The biggest number of votes was polled by photographer Max Blinkhorn, an active member of the local sailing club and a staunch support of “the school on the park”.
