SCOTTISH Labour leader Joihann Lamont has accused the SNP of running the most “dishonest, deceptive and disgraceful” campaign in the country’s history.
She claimed the Nationalists’ drive for independence was trying to “drag” people to a “place of no return outside the United Kingdom”.
In her keynote speech to the party conference in Perth, Ms Lamont also branded the Scottish Government’s pledge to increase free childcare after a Yes vote a “patronising and cynical con” to woo female voters.
And she claimed Labour was the party of social justice in Scotland.
As part of new powers Labour has pledged to devolve to Holyrood, she said Labour would increase tax for those earning £150,000 or more to 50p, with the cash raised reinvested in public services.
Ms Lamont went on: ‘’While we will ask the rich to pay their fair share, the Nationalists tell us that would put Scotland at a disadvantage.
“They say vote yes to get rid of the Tories. And then they say they will cut tax lower than anything the Tories set. The Tories would control our economy – there just wouldn’t be a Scot there to speak up for Scotland.”
