A TELEVISION advert is being aired as part of a campaign to ensure everyone entitled to take part in next year’s independence referendum is signed up to vote.

The ad alerts people to look out for the annual registration form popping through their letter box and also the special young voter registration form also being delivered to every household for anyone who will be 16 by referendum day, September 18, 2014.

Electoral registration officer Joan Hewton said an estimated ten per cent of Lothian’s 600,000 electors could currently be missing from the voting roll.

And she said they were aiming to get an estimated 16,000 young voters who would qualify to vote in the referendum.
