Music mogul Simon Cowell once said they had more chance of winning the Grand National than getting a record deal.

But the Britain’s Got Talent judge failed to put double act Zedd and Saffire off their stride, as they prepare to appear on yet another reality show.

Hosted by 80s pop star David Van Day and his presenter wife Sue Moxley, The Odd Couple is set to be shown on Wedding TV.

Zedd and Saffire – real names Craig and Debbie Stephens – will be one of four couples put through their paces, with a range of challenges set by two Royal Navy trainers.

Contestants must battle it out to earn points and win their dream wedding or renewal of vows.

But one couple are not what they seem – and the “odd couple” aim to put a spanner in the works of the other contestants.

Singing duo Zedd, 44, and Saffire, 49, appeared on Britain’s Got Talent three years ago. They made it through to the second round despite Cowell’s disapproval, with their performance of the self-penned Lift Me, which included rapping from Craig. Earlier this year, they appeared on Sky1’s Got To Dance, but failed to wow the panel.

Speaking of the new show, Craig said: “David and Sue gave us a call because they had seen us on Britain’s Got Talent and asked us to be on a new reality TV show. It’s a boot camp where all the couples live in a house together.

“We were taken down to a house in the woods in Essex near Kent. Just before dawn the next day, we were woken up by a couple of army boot camp instructors. I think we stole the show. I’m a bit of a clown and everybody knows me for my rapping – although it does get on some people’s nerves.”

The Portobello couple, who have two children, were put to the test with a range of challenges including cocktail making, skiing and paintballing.

Debbie, who works as a catering assistant, said: “It was an absolutely amazing experience being in the show and it was great to meet David in the flesh after watching him on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Here.”

The couple say they now have a major worldwide music publishing deal with peermusic.

Speaking of their new fame, Craig said: “It’s fantastic.“ Dates for the show are yet to be confirmed, but it could be screened as early as this month.”
