More than 1500 homes across Edinburgh suffered a day-long power cut after two complex electricity faults hit the grid.
Properties in the EH11 and EH14 areas of the city lost power at around 4.30pm on Friday afternoon, with the service only returning late on Saturday evening. Homes in Wester Hailes were the worst affected.
ScottishPower engineers worked through the night to rectify the faults.
A spokesman for ScottishPower explained that two high voltage faults had occurred at almost simultaneously making repairs “difficult”.He added: “It was quite unusual and was made even more complex as the error has occurred next to some gas infrastructure.”
