the Proclaimers are to perform in the Capital for two nights at the end of their UK tour later this year.
Craig and Charlie Reid will take to the stage at the Playhouse on November 22 and 23 at the climax of the six-week tour which takes in Glasgow Academy, Aberdeen Exhibition Centre, Inverness Eden Court Theatre and Perth Concert Hall.
The Edinburgh appearance will follow summer dates, including headlining at the Hebridean and Big Tent festivals, and slots at the Cambridge Festival and V Festival in England.
It will be their first Scottish tour for some time. The pair have spent a year writing and recording their ninth studio album, Like Comedy. It will be released in May on the independent label Cooking Vinyl. It follows a 95-date world tour which began at SXSW in Texas in 2009 and ended at T In The Park in 2010.
They said: “We are very excited to be playing Scottish shows again after a long absence and look forward to the tour immensely.”
Tickets go on sale on Friday.
