PUPILS from two Edinburgh schools are among ten young finalists in a science debate which will see them attempt to persuade judges that the scientist they represent is Scotland’s greatest.
The Speak Up Scotland Science Debating Final will take place at the Royal Society of Edinburgh tomorrow at 6.30pm, and will include first and second year pupils from Holy Rood High and The Royal High School.
The event – a new initiative from the English Speaking Union – is chaired by Simon Gage, director of Edinburgh International Science Festival.
Over the past year, the event has toured schools across Scotland running debating workshops. It is designed to encourage young people to engage with social and ethical issues raised by scientific advances.
