Local resident Richard Templeton, 26, said a 200 metre cordon had been set up around the former NHS property, as officers tried to talk him out.

He said: “All the windows are smashed in. There’s about six police cars and a big police presence on the ground. It’s caused quite a scene.”

Road closures were put in place during the incident which finished at about 8.30am. A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed the man had been arrested.
