A ROBBER armed with a knife threatened a man using a cash machine and escaped with £50 from his victim, a court has heard.
Angus McPherson, 33, walked up behind Harry Smith as he was using the ATM at the Bank of Scotland branch in South Clerk Street, Edinburgh, on December 15 2011.
The city’s sheriff court heard how McPherson threatened Mr Smith and forced him to withdraw £50 from the machine.
McPherson, a prisoner of HMP Edinburgh, then ran off – but was caught after horrified bank staff, who witnessed the robbery, contacted police.
McPherson pleaded guilty to a December 2011 charge of assault and robbery before Sheriff James Scott yesterday.
Sentence was deferred until next month for reports.
