ONE of Scotland’s best known bands have claimed they were almost arrested for busking at the Fringe.

Travis singer Fran Healy said the group was moved on yesterday, having earlier tweeted to fans they would be busking somewhere in the Capital.

The 40-year-old frontman had promised to use social media to alert people to the surprise public gig venue. But he instead posted: “Couldn’t tweet the location. We almost got arrested. Played 3 songs then split.”

Police have denied the claim. A spokesman for the Festival said: “The band was moved on by stewards as they set up next to the stage other performers were on. It was an innocent mistake.”

The Scottish alternative rock band best known for the single Why Does It Always Rain on Me? played at Edinburgh’s Hard Rock Cafe last night.

They have a performance scheduled for the Edinburgh Picture House in November. Their new album, Where You Stand, is out this week.
