SALES of new cars across Scotland have reached their highest level in five years, industry
figures have revealed.

More than 180,000 new cars were registered last year, a rise of almost 9 per cent on 2011.

The Vauxhall Corsa was the most popular, with 11,745 vehicles registered, followed by the Ford Fiesta at 10,226.

Scottish Motor Trade Association chief executive Douglas Robertson said: “We look forward to the market remaining settled in 2013 with hope, perhaps, of a small percentage rise in volume in the second half of the year.”
