Thousands of votes have been cast in our Salon of the Year 2014 competition and today we can reveal the top ten who will battle it out for the prize.

We originally asked you to vote for your favourite hairdressing and/or beauty salon earlier this year and managed to get it down to the final 40 who were all vying for the title.

Now it is time for the final push for voting with clients being able to vote in three different ways either by text, online or by completing the coupon in today’s paper.

Among those celebrating today after finding out her salon had been selected, Fiona Jackson, senior creative director of Cheynes, said the team was delighted.

“It’s amazing. We have got a really great team up in Bruntsfield.

“We have got really good banter with all the clients and the competition has created a nice buzz in the salon – everyone’s chuffed to bits that we’ve been shortlisted for the top ten.

“We would just like all the clients just to get voting for us and supporting us and hopefully we will win and people will come to the salon to see what the Cheynes experience is all about.”

“We try to go that extra mile for our clients because we realise it’s not just about your haircut, it’s about the whole experience.”

Also thankful for her clients’ votes is Kim Turner, one of the partners of Technik.

“It’s really exciting. I’m absolutely delighted and want to thank all my clients,” she said.

“I think we have been short-listed because we have good customer service, top quality hair styling and being able to do a variety of different kinds of hairdressing as well as having a good team.

“We have good loyal clients and we are very excited about being selected for the top ten.”

Joanne Myles, owner and director of Myles Hairdressing, said her team would now have “all guns blazing for the final month of voting.

“I am absolutely delighted. We were delighted even to make the top 40 so to make the top means we are chuffed to bits. My team work really hard and the shop has a great reputation
so it’s very well deserved and I’m delighted for my team.”

She added: “We will be asking all of our clients to vote again and having one last push to get our clients’ support and putting all our energies into keeping the excitement going but we are delighted with the news.”

Tim Donald, regional marketing and promotions editor at Johnston Press, said: “We have been overwhelmed at the level of interest and support for the Edinburgh Evening News Salon of the Year 2014 and wish our top ten the very best of luck over the coming weeks as we await the overall winner.”

You can vote multiple times but all the votes have to be cast by noon on Tuesday, August 19.
