POLICE have named the couple who died in a suspected suicide pact at a five-star Edinburgh hotel.
Igor Pavlov, 27, and 35-year-old Daria Kuchuk, both from Russia, were found dead in a room at the Scotsman Hotel about 12:15pm on Thursday.
Police said they had established the couple took a chemical into the hotel with them prior to their death.
The substance used to take their lives is believed to be cyanide.
Officers had searched Ms Kuchuk’s flat near the World’s End pub, off the Royal Mile, last Friday.
Reports that traces of cyanide had been found in the flat were denied this morning, with police saying in a statement that no further traces of chemicals were detected in the one-bedroom property.
