A SECURITY guard accused of barring a transgender woman from female toilets won’t face charges, police said.
The Evening News told last week how River Song, 18, had claimed the St James Centre staff member told her “You are a male and always will be” and “it’s got a penis” after she used the toilet.
Police Scotland opened an investigation into an alleged hate crime but have now revealed the case has been dropped.
Officers have advised staff at the shopping centre on “diversity issues” but equal rights groups said that they were “disappointed” the hate crime probe had been dropped.
River said: “I’m just so disappointed that the police don’t seem to be treating this as a real crime.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We won’t be pursuing criminal charges against the individual involved.”
