A thieving shopkeeper went round supermarket filling stations stealing petrol after his driving licence was revoked, a court has heard.
Mohammed Amin stole three tanks of fuel from branches of Morrisons in Edinburgh and Livingston, West Lothian, before he was caught.
When police questioned him about the thefts he refused to tell them if he was the driver at the time of the offences in October 2011.
At Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday Amin, 22, of South Parrotshot, Edinburgh, was fined £985 and ordered to pay £107.13 compensation to the supermarket chain.
He was also banned from driving for 38 days and had six penalty points added to his licence.
Amin, who works in his father’s store, earlier admitted three charges of theft, two of failing to give police information and one of failing to appear at court.
Passing sentence, Sheriff Martin Edington told him: “I take a very dim view of your behaviour.”
