SIX PEOPLE have been arrested after hundreds attended an illegal rave in a derelict building.

Officers had warned people not to attend the rave planned last night in two locations in West Lothian on safety grounds but said “several hundred” people turned up despite the appeal.

Police said five men and a woman were arrested and charged with a number of offences - including breach of the peace, assault on an officer and drugs offences - after a disturbance.

Chief Inspector Andy McLean said: “We want people to have a good time, but in a safe and legal manner, and the location in a derelict building was dangerous and unsafe

“We issued a warning asking people not to turn up but some did. Six people have now been charged, including one female, for assaulting an officer.”
