THE SNP will demand a Scottish veto on any UK bid to leave the European Union, Nicola Sturgeon will tell an Edinburgh audience tonight.
The First Minister-in-waiting will launch a six-rally tour of Scotland at the Capital’s Corn Exchange, arguing that if there is a UK referendum on EU membership, any vote to quit should not take effect unless there was a majority in each of its four nations for leaving.
“It would give proper protection against any of the nations of the UK being removed against their will,” she will say.
Ms Sturgeon claims with the Tories under growing pressure from Ukip, a referendum on the EU seems inevitable.
A recent poll showed that England was more likely to vote for withdrawal while Scotland would vote to remain.
