STEPHEN Hendry’s former manager has told of his “complete shock” after the snooker legend split with his wife of almost 20 years.

Ian Doyle, who managed the seven-time world champion for more than 15 years, said he believed the couple were “one of the happiest in the world”.

It was revealed last week that Edinburgh-born Hendry, who retired from the sport two years ago, had left wife Mandy for 26-year-old TV presenter Lauren Thundow.

Mr Doyle said: “It was a complete shock hearing that Stephen and Mandy had split. I’m absolutely astonished really. I genuinely thought they were one of the happiest couples in the world.

“So to read in the papers that Stephen has left their marital home left me totally stunned. I didn’t expect that.”
