Police are appealing to help find a ‘suspicious’ man who approached a six-year-old girl at Granton Primary School.

The incident happened during break yesterday when the man approached the girl and began speaking to her.

He then ran off after being challenged by a supervisor.

A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers were called to Granton Primary School in Edinburgh at around 11.20am on Monday, May 26, following a report of a man acting suspiciously outside the playground. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.

“The male is described as tall, black man, around 5ft 10in to 6ft, of medium build, wearing a long khaki coat and carrying large black bag.”

A spokesperson for Edinburgh City Council said: “We are liaising with Police Scotland regarding an incident at the school yesterday.”
