Singer Susan Boyle paid a visit to Edinburgh’s poppy factory today to lend her support to the 2014 Scottish Poppy Appeal.

She joined the 40 veterans with disabilities who work at Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory to load some of the five million poppies onto vehicles for distribution to volunteers across Scotland in time for the November campaign.

Five million paper poppies and more than 10,000 wreaths are hand-assembled all year round at the Logie Green Road factory, which was founded in 1926. The poppies are then sent to Poppyscotland volunteers who will ensure they are available in shops, supermarkets, schools and businesses across the country during Remembrance time.
