A TAKEAWAY driver suffered head injuries during an attempted robbery in a stairwell in Wardieburn at the weekend.

The 43-year-old man was making a delivery at a flat on Wardieburn Street West in the early hours on Saturday when he was approached and threatened in the common stair.

A struggle ensured when the robber demanded cash, and he made off empty-handed.

The victim suffered injuries to his head and face, but did not require medical attention.

The suspect is described as a white man with a local accent in his mid to late 20s, 5ft 6inches tall, with a stocky build.

He was wearing a black balaclava and a plain blue knitted jumper.

Detective Sergeant Lynsey Thomson said: “This was a shocking and distressing incident for the victim, who was just trying to do his job.

“We’re urging anyone who may have seen the suspect, or has any further information which can assist with our investigation, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
