A TEENAGER is due to appear in court accused of pretending to hang himself in front of a group of children.
Dean Riding is said to have faked stringing himself up to a tree near Tranent in May.
Riding, who failed to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Wednesday, has also been charged with exposing himself to the children, and threatening them with a knife during the same incident.
The 16-year-old did not enter a plea at the court and will return to face the charges next month.
Riding, of Haddington, has been charged with conducting himself in a disorderly manner by imitating hanging himself with a rope whilst a group of children watched on May 26.
He is also alleged to have conducted himself in a disorderly manner by exposing his bottom and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by brandishing a knife.
