A teenage girl has been assaulted and robbed of her mobile phone.

The 19-year-old victim was walking on Bonnington Road while talking on her phone.

She heard voices from behind, and saw men coming towards her when she turned around.

Her bag was ripped from her arm and she was then struck on the shoulder and back of the head.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack which happened on Thursday at around 8pm.

The suspects are both white and in their early 20s. The first is around 5ft 7in and was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, dark top and grey jogging bottoms, and the second around 5ft 9in, with short hair and wearing a dark coloured top.

Detective Constable Joe Perkins from Police Scotland said: “While the victim was uninjured, she was still left shaken by this robbery. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or recognises the description of the suspects, to contact police on 101.”
