‘STRICTLY no foam parties’ - that’s the promise at the relaunced Cab Vol. The Cabaret Voltaire, as it is now branded reopens tonight with a fresh new take on clubbing in the Capital.

The entire venue has been revamped. A new ground floor bar has been created, new DJ talent has been enlisted, bands have been booked, drinks list written and long- hidden windows rediscovered.

Interior designers Surface ID have pared the venue back to the brick and slowly built it back up, referencing vintage dance clubs and forgotten curiosity shops.

The new Cabaret Voltaire is no longer just a club either - open in the afternoons, it is sure to be a popular hang out.

The subterranean club, complete with beefed-up sound system reopens this evening with iAM, Beta & Kappa’s weekly electronica/bass party. They’re assisted by dub crew Chungo-Bungo and the ethos for the night is open-minded, alternative, forward thinking music with no gimmicks.

Tomorrow, there’s an early start in the ground floor bar with Domino Club and the legend that is Yogi Haughton. That’s because every Friday, the weekend will start earlier at The Cabaret Voltaire than anywhere else in the city, with Yogi playing rare funk, soul, disco and whatever else tickles his fancy from 4pm.

Later, you can head to XY, a weekly house, electro and D’n’B night which launches with special guest, techno funk producer Alex Metric.

The man who has remixed the likes of Gorillaz, Beastie Boys, La Roux and Depeche Mode, he sets the bar high for the signature monthly guests the night will welcome.

On Saturday, it’s time for The Cabaret Voltaire’s weekly party, Pocket Aces.

Guests this weekend include Thunder Disco Club, who will embrace the night’s ‘anything good goes’ policy, that focuses particularly on hi-nrg disco, synth, 80s electro & funk to Afro beat & house.

It’s not just about the weekend either at The Cabaret Voltaire. Mondays bring Night Kids to the venue, offering three rooms of cutting edge electronic music. On Tuesdays it’s the turn of Hector’s House. Full of warm, cosy electronic basslines and home-cooked house beats along with some of the best local DJing talent, the night aims to put a credible midweek night back on the map of Edinburgh’s club scene.

Cab Vol is definitely back... bigger and better.
