Three more men have been arrested as part of an ongoing crackdown on prolific housebreakers.

The arrests were made after a house on Wardieburn Terrace was raided in connection with break-ins to Royston Mains Crescent and Wardieburn Road last month.

Officers from the Community Investigation Unit (CIU), who are leading the Operation RAC initiative, recovered various stolen items, including electrical goods, cash and jewellery.

Two men, aged 25 and 21, were subsequently charged and are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

As part of Operation RAC patrols undertaken in the east of the city yesterday, the CIU identified a man wanted on a warrant offence in Greendykes House.

The 31-year-old will also appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Mark Williams said: “We are targeting housebreakers right across the city and in the last couple of months have arrested over one hundred criminals and charged them with over three hundred offences. There will be no let up in our pursuit of those responsible.

“The public can help us by always making sure their homes, businesses and sheds are properly locked and secure at all times. You can get more advice on this by speaking with your local policing team or by visiting our website at www.scotland.police.uk.”
