A MAN stabbed his former partner’s new lover after arguing with him in the street.
Frederick Cairns, 31, attacked defenceless Graeme Patterson after meeting him in Calder Gardens, Wester Hailes, in November 2010.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard how Cairns plunged a blade into Mr Patterson’s arm and back during the early-morning confrontation.
The injuries were “potentially life-threatening” but medics managed to successfully treat Mr Patterson.
The details emerged during a hearing yesterday after Cairns, of Calder Place, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to a November 26, 2010 charge of repeatedly striking Mr Patterson with a knife to his severe injury and to the danger of his life. Judge Lord Turnbull deferred sentence until next month.
