AN air route between Edinburgh and Iceland is set to reopen this summer.
Budget airline Iceland Express will run twice-weekly flights to and from Reykjavik from June 21 until August.
The route was operated for the first time last year by the airline, and could be extended once again if it proves popular.
Heimir Már Pétursson, public relations manager for Iceland Express, said: “Iceland Express thinks Edinburgh is an exiting destination for Icelanders. For decades many Icelanders have studied in universities in Edinburgh so there are strong ties between Icelanders and the city.
“We are hoping thousands of Icelanders will take the opportunity to visit Edinburgh and that in return thousands of Scots will use the low-cost opportunity to visit Iceland.
“Iceland has many natural wonders to offer to travellers and Reykjavik is also a fun city to visit, with vibrant culture and night life.”
