AN 11-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being struck by a van while cycling home.
He was cycling with a friend on the B6363 near the village of Pencaitland, East Lothian, at around 4pm yesterday when he was struck a “glancing blow” by a passing Mercedes Sprinter van.
He was treated at the scene before being transferred to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh under police escort. The other boy was uninjured. The van driver is helping police, who have appealed for witnesses
